New Baptismal Font for St. Boniface

Posted March 25, 2009 in categories Parish News

This is the "new" baptismal font I am planning to install at Saint Boniface Church. It is actually about 100 years old, having been used to make new Christians at Assumption Church in the Walnut Hills neighborhood of Cincinnati. Sadly, that beautiful church is no longer in use. Here, you can see it situated in the old bapistry of that church. (You can also see that the bowl is filled with white stone--I have no idea why.)

This font needs the following work done to it:
1. Remove the metal fittings on the top (where there used to be a lid) and repair the holes, as well as any other nicks
2. Cut out the dividers in the top, creating one, large bowl.
3. Clean and polish the entire font.
My plan is to place this font just inside the second set of front doors to church, re-arranging the pews in that area to create plenty of space all around it.
